Christopher Bursk

Born the same day as William Shakespeare, Christopher Bursk devoted his life to his family, friends, and students. A recipient of NEA, Guggenheim, and Pew Fellowships, he was the author of fourteen extraordinary books of poetry. He received the Chicago Literary Award for Poetry, Green Rose Prize from New Issues, the 49th Parallel Award, Bellingham Review, the New Letters Prize in Poetry, the Patterson Prize and the Allen Ginsberg Poetry Prize. Most importantly, he was the proud grandfather of six. Dr. Christopher Bursk died June 21, 2021, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of poetry, activism, and mentorship. One of the first supporters of Read Furiously, we are honored to have publishedDear Terror. We miss him everyday.
